Wayne and Michele will highlight the many beautiful native plants which can be used in either sun or shade in home landscapes. Native plants are beautiful, ecologically beneficial, and help tie our home landscapes into the existing countryside so our home landscapes don't look out-of- place.

Ardith is Director of Education at Koehler and Dramm's Institute of Floristry. She will demonstrate the basic tips and techniques of creating beautiful arrangements no matter what the flower or the container. Gifts for the Gardener: Stepping stones and Garden Books
Speaker: Peg Wastell, WI Master Gardener
and Kim Kiiskinen, Reference Librarian and Master Gardener
Peg will demonstrate how to make unique stepping stones for your garden using concrete and various materials. Kim will review the garden books in the library's collection (including those donated by the RFGC) as well as those published this year. If you're looking to enhance a garden with unique stepping stones, or take a walk through the world of books, or looking to give a great gift for Christmas to a fellow gardener, this meeting will be full of wonderful ideas.  (Kim's Book Handout)

Diana Alfuth
October 7 - Home Landscaping: Tying it All Together and
November 4: Home Landscaping: Success in the Details

Diana teaches Landscape Design at the University of MN and is also UW-Extension Horticulture educator for the area.  Part of her extension job includes training Master Gardeners and working with commercial growers and farmers.  She also has a landscape design business.

Jim Barron
March 4 - Seed Starting and Seed Saving
Jim is a Wisconsin Master Gardener, receiving a B.S. in Agriculture from UW-RF and has been in agricultural seed production for over 25 years.  He has been saving seeds for the past 12-15 years and all of his gardening is done strictly from using his own seed-grown plants.  Jim presented the seed saving portion of this presentation to the Wisconsin Master Gardeners.

Ardith Beveridge
June 3 - Flower Arrangements: Tips from a Pro
Director of Education at Koehler and Dramm's Institute of Floristry in Minneapolis, and garden column contributor to the Northern Gardener Magazine ("A Cut Above"), Ardith has many international achievements as a floral designer, consultant, commentator (TV), panel designer and floral design judge.  She has designed for the Tournament of Roses, Presidential Inaugurations, Presidential Easter Celebrations, and the MN State Governor's office.  She is active in teaching, presenting programs and taking courses nationally and internationally to stay current with design trends.

Michele Bredahl and Wayne Huhnke
May 6 - Native Plants for Home Gardens
Husband and wife owners of Kinnickinnic Natives, a plant nursery 2.5 miles north of River Falls on Hwy 65.  Wayne has been interested in native plants and prairies for 15 years and has volunteered as a site steward of the St. Croix Savanna in Bayport, MN and the Foster Cemetery in River Falls (with the Prairie Enthusiasts).  He was a B.S. in Horticulture from UW-RF.  Michele is a Wisconsin Master Gardener and RF Garden Club member with a B.S. in Business Administration and and M.B.A. for the University of St. Thomas.

Don Brenneman
April 1 - Garden Photography: Tips for Great Photos
Don is a Associate Professor at U of MN and teaches a credit photography course on the St. Paul campus plus a non-credit extension class in Garden Photography.  He is the Extension Visual Production Manager for the U of MN-Extension and produces the Minnesota Gardening Calendar plus does photography for other publications and wen sites.

Mike Deneen
September 9 - Lawn Care for Home Landscapes
Mike is a Wisconsin Master Gardener and is the owner of Deneen Seed and Sod.  Mike is a speaker for the Wisconsin Master Gardener Association and is a member of many landscape associations.  He is also involved in an effort to rid the area of buckthorn.

Kim Kiiskinen
December 2 - Garden Books: A review of what's new in the market as well as the library's collection
Kim recieved her MLS in Library Science from North Carolina Central University in 1996.  She became a Wisconsin Master Gardener in 2001 and has a life long interest in books, vegetable gardening for the last 12 years, flower gardening for the last 5 years, and weeding gardens since she was old enough to do so.  She has been the Reference Librarian since November 1996 at the River Falls Public Library and has designed and updated the River Falls Garden Club web page which includes links to many horticulture web sites.

Jim Stolzenberg
February 4 - Tress, Shrubs and Evergreens for our Area
Jim has been in the nursery business for 30 years, the past 23 at Bailey's.  He coordinates the production of 900 varieties of woody plants at the Bailey's farms in Oregon, Washington, and Minnesota.  Jim makes many trips across the US searching for and evaluating new varieties of woody plants.
