As the minutes for the June meeting as printed in the September newsletter did not have any corrections or additions, Ursula P made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Margaret S. The motion passed.

Treasurer's Report

Speaker Fees - $ 75

Plant Sale Postage - $ 6
Mail checks and correspondence

Plant Sale Split Adj. - $ 2
Slightly less cost than expected

Compared to Last Year:
Income higher by $281 due to better plant sale revenue. Expenses lower by $400 due primarily to less spending so far on community plant beds. Plant sale costs are lower by $261 but that was offset by higher speaker fees of $225 (vs. zero for 2005).

Compared to Budget:
Income over by $1287 ($30 due to more memberships, and $1270 due to plant sale).  Expenses under budget by $990. Of this amount, $800 for scholarships not yet funded, $500 for community plant beds, $118 for tree maintenance, and $150 on lower plant sale costs. We are over by $487 on the plant split, but that was more than offset by the correspondingly higher sales.

Susan R suggested that the amount of CD does not need to be included at the meeting while the Treasurer is giving the report.  After as brief discussion, it was decided the club should give some of its funds to the Kinnickinnic River Land Trust (KRLT) for rain garden signs. Member Margaret S, who also works for KRLT, told members that it would be useful to have a sign at various rain garden sites to educate the public about the benefit of rain gardens. Ursula P made a motion to give $300, seconded by Joan L. Motion passed.
