Minutes from March 6, 2006 Meeting
President Susan R called the meeting to order at 7:10pm.
As there were no additions or correction to the February minutes as printed in the March newsletter, Nancy S made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Carolyn B. Motion passed.
Treasurer's Report
Treasurer Mae W presented the following report: Total net worth as of
today is $7,044.54

Compared to Last Year:
Memberships down by $70. Expenses higher by $137 due to tree maintenance
performed at end of year for Heritage Park/White Pathway. The majority of that
expense was paid out of the remaining 2005 Community Benefits budget.
Compared to Budget:
Income down by $103 ($33 due to interest that will be paid at the end of March),
and $70 less in memberships.
Expenses below budget by $638. Of this amount, $368 is in tree maintenance not yet spent on a total year budget of $500. Another $250 is from Civic Plant Beds and Library Donations not yet spent.
Nancy S asked how the membership numbers compare this year to last year. Mae reported that memberships are down, 41 in 2006 compared to 51 in 2005. However, memberships are still arriving.
A suggestion was made to drop off the clubs calendar of events at the River Falls Chamber of Commerce in an effort to boost membership.
Announcements
President Susan R thanked everyone who helped set up for the meeting.
Plant Sale Date Change
Susan announced to the members that the plant sale date has been changed to May
27. The Amory is conduction army maneuvers on May 20 so the plant sale was
rescheduled to May 27.
Deb B noted that the Saturday on Memorial Day weekend should be a good day for a successful sale. Mae W reported that there is now a more formal procedure to use the Armory for the sale.
Garden U
Carolyn B told members about Garden U, which is sponsored by the SCVMGA, on
Saturday, March 18 and gave review of the speaker and programs. Additional
information was printed in the March newsletter.
Summer Field Trip
The Garden Club has planned a 10:00 am tour at Shady Acres Herb Farm in Chaska,
MN. For information contact Jamie H. More details in the 2006 schedule in each
newsletter.
April speaker
The April speaker is Erin Hynes with the topic of Ornamental Grasses. Should be
a wonderful program. Hopefully, our program information will be in the River
Falls Journal. The March information was in the Hudson Observer and on WEVR.
