Plant Sale discussion

Ursula P thanks everyone who helped, it is a most joyous occasion each year.

Plant  Sale Report from Treasurer Mae W.

Add Mae’s pdf file.

There were less plants at this sale than in previous years but we did almost sell-out of plants, much more so than in previous years.  Mae observed customers who arrived late walking out of the sale without purchasing any plants.

The gross sales were $5591, which was only $9 less than last year.  However, the club made $44 more in profit than last year.

Mae has the member white sticks with initials and prices -please retrieve the sticks from Mae to use for the 2006 sale.

Mae will pass out member checks.  If your total does not seem to represent your sales, let Mae know.  There were some discrepancies with the sticks versus sales.

Susan R suggested that those who are happy with the profit with their sale plants, their part of the discrepancy balance could be given to the club.

There was a mix-up with the red and blue price labels at the check-out so the member sales could be a factor in the odd sale results.

Since so many customers wrote checks, their names will be included on the mailing list and sales should continue to grow.  This could mean we should take more UWRF annuals in future sales.  This year we had 1500 UWRF units.  Next year, a UWRF staff person could be available if we need to pick up more plants during the sale.

Comments about UWRF plants:

bulletNeeded more water
bulletNeed more variety in species
bulletThe flats were connected so it was hard to break up packs during the sale

Directions for pricing plants that was printed in the May newsletter needs to be revamped.
