Old Business
2004 Programs
Anne K has the programs for 2004 more or less set.
Officers for 2004
The club needs a nominating committee for 2004 officers. Members of the
nominating committee can not be nominated. The nominating committee compiles a
list of nominations for President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary.
Susan R, Susan G and Anne K will be on the nominating committee. Mae W will
continue to be the Treasurer and Kim K will continue to be the Secretary unless
someone else is nominated. The nominating committee will need to have a slate of
officers, including someone new for President and Vice-President, for the
December meeting. It would also be a good idea to have job descriptions for the
new officers.
Old Business
2004 Plant Sale
Ursula P will book the Armory for the plant sale. The first choice for a date is
Saturday, May 15 and the second preference is Saturday, May 22.
Plant Suggestions for UWRF
Members of the club met at 6:30 before the meeting to create a list of plant
suggestions. The suggestions included: More shade annuals, more grasses (the
millet was a big hit), more plants that would be used in planters such as sweet
potato vine, less tomatoes and other vegetables, more hot peppers or varieties
of colored peppers, less common impatients but more unusual or double impatients,
wave or tidal wave petunias, tomatillos, persian shields, tall red or mixed
snapdragons, tall marigolds, annual rudebeckia, bacopa, mexican heather, million
bells, geraniums (esp new varieties), and soleus.
Suggestions for plant sale plants from Proven Winners (which can be viewed at
www.provenwinners.com). Proven Winner plants from the spring collection include:
Infinity varieties of New Guinea Impatients, Laguna Sky Blue Lobelli, Million
Bells varieties of PinkCalibrachoa hybrid, Fireworks Collection of Pelargonium
zonal, Superbell and Supertunia Mini varieties of Calibrachoa, Supertunia
varieties of Petunia hybrid, and Temari varieties of Verbena hybrid. Other
suggestions from Margaret include: Heaven Scent Nicotiana, Verbena Bonariensis,
Matthiola Bicornis, Heliotropa, Baby's Breath (Red Cloud, Pink Fairy), Zebrina
Mulva, Nigella Loveina Mist, Larkspur, Cosmos, and Star White Little Zinnia.
Last year the club sold 1478 UWRF plants. This year we should bring over only 1500 plant packs/items from UWRF for the sale so we do not have to bring back so many unsold UWRF plants.
Carolyn B made a motion to close the meeting, seconded by Mae W. Move to close, motion carried and the meeting closed.
