Minutes for October 1, 2001 Meeting

The meeting was called to order by President Margaret S.  Ursula P. made a motion to approve the September 10, 2001 meeting minutes, seconded by Judy J., motion carried.

Mae W. gave the Treasurer's Report.  The club has a net worth of $3596.15 in the Heritage park CD, and $2946.89 in savings and checking, $10 in petty cash, and $20.40 in stamps.  There was a net decrease of $300 since the last meeting which included $300 in community benefit - $100 to the Library, and $200 to Rocky Branch PTA for use in their perennial garden.  Nancy G. made a motion to accept the Treasurer's Report, seconded by Donna H., motion carried.

Margaret reported she had sent a letter to Rocky Branch elementary school along with our donation of $200 and it included information about our plant sale and how the club's funds have been used to support various community projects.  She hoped this inform more community members of our activities and assistance in various areas.

Old Business: Kay W. reported on the books she has donated to the Education Box the garden club is sponsoring for area schools.  These books include:

Kay described the books, activities, etc and showed a sample of the books she has collected.  Nancy Miller, Library Director, is ordering the other books and materials from funds the Club has donated.  Margaret S. noted that after the education boc is complete, she will look into having a photo taken for the Journal, as well as sending a letter to area elementary school principals about the box as a resource for their teachers.

Margaret reported that the Garden Club web page updates including a new web address.  She passed around a print out of the Garden Club's web site.  Kim K., member and also reference librarian, is creating and updating the web site.

Mae W. reported that she and Kim are still reviewing computer software which has been budgeted for purchase for the library.

New Business: Ursula P. brought plants for distribution (thanks Ursula!).  A motion was made by Jennifer J., seconded by Kay W. to adjourn the meeting.  Motion passed.
