Sadly, Sam died young at only 8 years-old in December 2000. He died happy, on a walk on a cold winter day, very quickly, without pain or suffering. He was a great husky.
Jake died after a long life at 12+ years-old in July 2005 after living with arthritis for a few years and cancer for his last half year. As king of all dogs, his loss is large.

We adopted Alex on Tuesday, April 24, 2001. She was raised by very nice people in the suburbs who realized that she needed more room to run.

Baron, the serendipitous dog

Baron and his buddy |
The story of Baron could start out with, "A funny thing happened on the way to the store...". One Saturday afternoon in January 2003 while we were shopping, we went into the local pet store for supplies for the other dogs. Unknown to us, it was Human Society day and there was Baron, just needing a home and looking cute. It was love at first sight. After some deliberation, we filled out the paperwork and took him home. He's a husky/Shepard mix. Although we've only known him for a short time, he seems like he's going to be an outstanding dog. In the words of our veterinarian, "This dog has an exceptional temperament."
